I love all three of these other alternatives to my exact pants because, each style has a different vibe to it and the pants can truly be styled in so many different ways, I think my second favorite ones are the other stories floral pants. The pants are so understated and simple I can see myself wearing them frequently for a laid back weekend look.

French Quarter - New Orleans

New Orleans, you head the words and instantly probably think Hurricane Katrina, but in truth when I hear New Orleans that is the last thing I think about. In the long time I’ve lived in Texas I’ve driven past New Orleans probably five times and had never stopped. I thought about driving one time when I was road tripping by myself, but the drive just seemed too far and coffee was not going to cut it to keep me awake. So I waited and waited and forgot my long lost plans to go. Then it finally happened I went and let me just say going to the French Quarter was like going back in time. All the buildings in the French Quarter just so happened to be turning 300 years old while we were there visiting and can I just say I fell in love with what I got to explore while I was there. Being there was a little bitter sweet because it reminded me of the buildings in Cuba so much, in a way it was like being there again. I tried two of the must haves while I was there beignets and I also had a hand grenade.

Lilac Trend - Fruta Fresca

Lilac is the color of the year. Shying away from millennial pink, the color adds a pop of color to any look. Lilac is modern & sophisticated. It took me a while to come around and wear this color but I love it! 

Over the weekend I wore this handmade crochet skirt from    Fruta Fresca  a Cuban artisan Houston based label 

I love this skirt because it’s a fresh take to your heavier crochet skirts. It’s perfect even for fall (at least here in Houston). But what truly really sold me was the color of the skirt, I love purple, and although technically this is lilac I love it just the same. Loving Your Hair

Protecting your natural hair at all costs always seems everyone's last concern, until they realize that not caring for their hair whether it's dying constantly, using too much heat not washing with the right products. We all want something different from time to time, and that can cost us our natural healthy hair. For me it was after dying it multiple times in one year, using too much heat and not cutting the dead ends often enough. Always having had healthy long hair I was under the impression that, it would be okay to dye my hair, and put it through extreme heat.

I've seen the same happen to many people I know, they continually change so much that, their hair ends up lifeless and dull, for some even falling out. I was horrified I looked in the mirror and noticed the bottom half of my head had significantly less hair than I was used to. I remembered seeing many friends with crochet braids and realized that might help strengthen my hair it was a way to leave it alone for a while. 

Up until that point unhealthy hair had been the least of my worries, because my hair had always been so manageable, and strong. It took a while to get back to healthy hair. Vino Roso Per Uno

Here we are again the time of the year some of us dread, while others love to love. Valentines day is tomorrow and I know there's plenty of us out there who will be spending it alone or unhappy. Let's be honest here, not everyone has someone they can gush about to friends and family, or some of us don't want to have anyone at the moment because, well we want to be selfish and care for ourselves. This post is dedicated to those people those of us who are being selfish at the moment and are worried about ourselves more than a holiday that gives people an excuse to make others feel a little bitter.

I honestly cannot count myself in that group of people who are bitter at this time of the year, it's not who I am, although I was in that position a year or two ago I am now nowhere near feeling that way. Valentines day this year is a happy one for me, and what do I  mean exactly by that? I am happy with myself, this past year I had a lot of alone time to work on myself, be more independent, I love me and the woman I am becoming. Although I have reason to celebrate valentines day I am instead choosing to have that mind space to celebrate self love. We all feel that this is a day to celebrate someone else in our lives, and although there's nothing wrong with that I feel it is very important for us to remember that love begins with us, and we should nurture that in some way. Whether you're spending this Valentines day alone or in good company enjoy a drink or three and remember that in order to be happy you must love yourself first. So to you in advance I say Happy Valentines Day.

DYI Fringe

 Fringe skirts .. how can I begin to describe fringe skirts. They have become one of our guilty pleasures (admit it). And I being the huge skirt fan that I have become went on the hunt for a good spring skirt. This skirt did not look like this when it first caught my eye at a vintage shop months ago along with a Ralph Lauren one I scored for a good price. Since I personally did't not like the fact that it was too long and I stepped on it (sorry I'm short).

So since I had yet to have my needs fulfilled with having a fringe skirt in my closet I decided to make one. I sat for a while and thought deeply of how bad I could mess it up but then the thought creeped that this specific skirt wasn't very expensive (compared to the Ralph Lauren one) and that I could do something I really liked to it. I went for it dug through all my sewing supplies, found my scissors and went for it. The result.. a few miss cuts here and there which are not noticeable at all now when the entire skirt is finished and is flowing freely.  So after a painstaking hour of cutting and making sure I didn't cut crooked I was excited to try it on and I have to tell you it was well worth it. So the end result seven dollars can get you a spring skirt to love. Get your shopping on, and bring out those scissors. My sandals are from Charlotte Russe but they are sold out (sad face) Oh and did I mention I did not map out my lines to cut? Lol What do you guys think? Would you wear this or try it at home?
